Health Ministries
We are leaders, nurses, social workers and chaplains in our extensive health ministry of hospitals, hospices, community clinics and other health programs.
CHRISTUS Health System
Inspired by our mission, we partner with the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston, Texas, to deliver compassionate, high-quality health care. We are committed to improving the health of individuals and communities by promoting health and the prevention of illnesses.
We do this through the CHRISTUS Health System, an international Catholic, faith-based, not-for-profit health system comprised of almost 350 services and facilities, including more than 60 hospitals and long-term care facilities, 175 clinics and outpatient centers, and dozens of other health ministries in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and the United States.

Chimbote, Peru
Specialized Medical Center
Santa Clara
For more than five decades, the Incarnate Word Clinic, formerly known as Santa Clara Clinic, has provided an ample range of medical and social services in one of the poorest zones in Chimbote, Peru.
In 2015, the center changed from being the Service of Integral Health Santa Clara, to become the Incarnate Word Health System with its ministry, the Specialized Medical Center Santa Clara.
The clinic has treated thousands of people who, in other circumstances, would not have had access to medical attention, thus saving lives and offering basic and specialized services to an average of 150 patients a day.
This Clinic offers attention in the fields of audiology, pediatrics, cardiology, internal medicine, X rays and psychological services, among others.
Incarnate Word Community Outreach Program
The Community Outreach Program, which is part of the Incarnate Word Clinic, cares for patients in the Chimbote area who are very poor, lack adequate health care, and are in the final stages of their life. Many of them are elderly, live alone, or have no family to care for them. They are unable to pay for services. The Outreach Program also cares for patients who no longer can be accepted in a hospital because hospice care is not provided there.
Staff members are selected and receive education in the concept of hospice care. They visit patients in their homes and provide compassionate care. The maximum capacity of the Program is 50 patients.
The Village at Incarnate Word
San Antonio, Texas
The Village at Incarnate Word is a senior-living facily which features independent living, assisted living, memory care, extended nursing care, and in-home services via Sisters Care throughout the city of San Antonio.
Our community programs and services are designed to show respect for the whole person by attending to the social, physical, recreational and spiritual needs of older adults.
Retired sisters live together with lay people from all faiths and walks of life. There are learning opportunities for all residents through the University of the Incarnate Word.
Sisters Care, a ministry of the Village, provides in-home personal care assistance to older adults who wish to remain independent in their own homes. The Connections community outtreach program offers classes and activities at off-site locations that focus on a holistic approach to health and wellness.
