UIW celebrates Its Founding Sisters

The University of the Incarnate Word dedicated Mission Lobby to the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word who served at the University, in thanksgiving for their dedicated work with the University students and in honor of the 150th Anniversary of the Congregation.

University President Dr. Tom Evans, dedicates Mission Lobby to the Sisters who founded and served at the University;  he was accompanied by Sr. Teresa Stanley as they unveiled a plaque to honor artist Sr. Maria del Socorro Lazo, founder of the UIW Art Department and for her extraordinary paintings of the San Antonio Missions and the Texas ‘Bluebonnets’, which are now on display in Mission Lobby.

Sr. Walter Maher, with UIW Mission & Ministry Office, presents the Opening Prayer, and Dr. Evans speaks of the wonderful artistic works of Sr. Maria del Soccoro Lazo, now in possession of the University.
