The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio opens its sixth pediatric primary care practice today in north east San Antonio, making its primary care network of physicians among the largest in the city.
“Not only are we among the largest pediatric care networks, all 16 primary care pediatricians are linked through the same electronic medical record system used in our emergency departments downtown and in Westover Hills and shared among the 170 pediatric subspecialists who are part of the Baylor College of Medicine,” said Elias Neujahr, president, The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. “This means test results can be shared as physicians consult with each other about a child’s illness or injury. This saves parents time and money by reducing the need for repeat tests if the child visits a different doctor in the network.”
“Our primary care network has grown since we established San Antonio’s first free-standing children’s hospital. The opening of our Dominion Crossing location is another example of how we are committed to recruiting world-class pediatricians and positioning them in key areas of our community with the goal of providing the best pediatric health care for all families in San Antonio and beyond,” said Neujahr.
Comprehensive care for children through age 18 includes free prenatal consultations for expectant parents, “well-child” visits, immunizations, management of chronic illnesses such as asthma and ADHD, treatment of minor injuries, care of acute illnesses, school and sports physicals, and hearing and vision screening.
