Praised be the Incarnate Word!
On May 23, we had our third SURGE International Conversation in which we discussed the encyclical Laudato Si. Our reflection focused on recognizing that our common home has been suffering much damage and mistreatment. In the last 200 years, we have developed a faster rhythm, and we have treated the earth as if there was an unlimited supply of resources, taking more than what justly corresponds to us.
However, not everything is lost! Young people demand change. We want to fight against the environmental crisis and the suffering of the poor. We know that we need an integral plan so that, as we sow in ourselves the love for our neighbor, we also respond to Christ’s invitation to an ecological conversion where we all put a seed of hope.
Our SURGE young people show us the affection and care for the common home in their different countries.
