The Gospels do not focus on the suffering of Jesus, but on his love. Jesus sweats blood in the garden, the place where lovers go! What was Jesus’ agony? That he was going to be abandoned. That’s a lover talking.
God wills the salvation of all without distinction. God gives every person enough revelation to respond to love in the Holy Spirit. All persons have access to the Holy Spirit. And how will we know if someone is filled with the Spirit? “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
The Gospel account of Jesus (as a child being lost and found) in the Temple …
“I know you are my mother, but I have to do things you will not understand.”
Everything that can be said about Mary, can be said about the church. Mary gave birth to Jesus; the Church gives birth to Christ. The church is Jesus’ mother in the world. Christ is doing things that we will never understand.
