Meet our congregational formation team as well as the new members of the 2016 program!

MEXICO PROGRAM:

Praised be the Incarnate Word!

This was a weekend to remember with joy.

On Saturday, May 20, our Congregation was blessed with the Perpetual Profession of Sister Adriana Calzada Vázquez Vela. The ceremony was presided over by Rev. Diego Martínez Martínez, S.J., in the Chapel at Casa San Ángel.

Sister Teresa Maya, General Coordinator of the Congregation, received Sister Adriana’s vows. This celebration filled all with joy–the sisters, family members and friends who accompanied Adriana.

On the following day, Sunday, May 21, Elizabeth Mendoza Cortez started her Novitiate in a beautiful and simple ceremony. She was welcomed by Sister Rosantina Garzafox, Director of the Novitiate, and by Sr. Paty Estrada García, who is now a Second Year Novice.

Peru: Pre-novitiate Phase

Carol Velarde Flores is a member of the Peruvian Pre-Novitiate program.

Carol Shares her Journey:

My name is Carol Guadalupe Velarde Flores. I was born in Lima on July 14, twenty -seven years ago.

I got to know the Congregation through Sister Katty Huánuco, CCVI, in a workshop entitled“Theology of Liberation. Theology of the Church. Theology of the Poor”. This workshop was given in 2013 in Saint Mark’s Parish, in San Juan de Lurigancho, and I was in charge of the audiovisuals at the event. At this workshop, I discovered that we have a Church that is not afraid to give up its comfort to move closer to the most excluded realities. As Pope Francis would say: “go to the existential peripheries”. I wanted to be part of that Church; my heart was jumping with joy because now I knew that there were people who gave their lives for the poor, being with the poor and in the midst of the poor.

How do I feel now? I have great hope. During all this time, the Sisters have helped me to recognize my humanity, to look at my history from the eyes of God, Father and Mother, who loves us with infinite mercy, to recognize my frailty and my gifts, my lights and my shadows. And from there, to accompany the young people who want to confirm their faith, or to help the families with handicapped children. I want to make others aware of human trafficking. In other words, I want to give meaning to my life, that came from a God who loves humanity and decided to become incarnate.

Many blessings to you, Carol!
