Incarnate Word High School is excited to announce the first Catholic based online school in Texas, Incarnate Word Virtual High School (IWVHS)! Incarnate Word Virtual High School plans to expand their offerings to reach students beyond the brick-and-mortar education model while keeping true to the faith-based college preparatory environment.
On Monday, February 22, Principal and CEO Dr. Anna Downey, along with Incarnate Word High School Board of Directors, approved the decision to launch Incarnate Word Virtual High School.
IWHS plans to be the first catholic private school to launch the creation of an alternative learning experience without physical boundaries in Texas. COVID has sped up the timeline and has strengthened the school’s findings that a number of students thrive in an e-learning setting. IWVHS is an option for families that relocate often for employment, military duties, or for families with daughters in competitive sports or performing arts. IWVHS is not limited to the families outside of San Antonio. IWVHS is also an option for families who have chosen homeschooling or have homebound students that want a program that offers an innovative education and gives families flexibility.
IWVHS is an amazing opportunity for families that do not live near a parochial school but want religion throughout their child’s curriculum. Students enrolled in IWVHS will experience a very meaningful and faith-based academic program, college and career counseling, and student activities which are consistently data-driven. The focus of IWVHS is to position young women to thrive in an increasingly complex workforce, environment and life. They will have access to daily class prayer, service opportunities, participation in liturgical services or social justice advocacy and a rigorous and relevant academic program. Students attending IWVHS will be able to grow in mindset, civic responsiveness, service and in their interests by engaging in internships, externships and various clubs.
IWVHS students will share the same objective as IWHS. All IWHS students, both virtual and traditional, will benefit from the community commitment to prepare young women for jobs which do not exist, using technology that has not been invented to solve problems which currently are unknown. IWHS and IWVHS remains aligned with the mission and vision of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word to prepare confident young women dedicated to academic excellence, Christian service and social justice. IWHS and IWVHS will be the high school of choice for young women in our local and global community who are seeking a challenging, Catholic learning experience which exceeds her potential.
