Instituto Hispano Inglés was the venue for ENGLISH CCVI PRESENTATIONS. Due to the health emergency, these were done online for the second year in a row on May 24 – 26.
The schools of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Mexico were the participants in this experience through their outstanding students.
Goal
The event has the purpose of showcasing our students’ learning and acquired skills in the process of mastering the English language through Spelling, Poetry and Speech exhibitions.
Preparations for this exhibition began with internal contests and selecting the participants in different disciplines in each school of the congregation:
- Colegio Mexicano, Monterrey
- Instituto América, Chihuahua
- Instituto Miguel Angel, Ciudad de México
- Colegio Central, Puebla
- Centro Educativo Santa Catarina, Monterrey
- Colegio Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Veracruz
- Instituto Miguel Angel de Occidente, Guadalajara
- Instituto Hispano Inglés, San Luis Potosí
On this occasion, the event innovated with the Spelling demonstration, where the participating fifth graders spelled words with a certain spelling pattern and the sixth graders spelled commonly misspelled words.
The children of the primary school area demonstrated their ability to spell, identify the syntactic and morphological role that the word has in a sentence, as well as identify its meaning in context.
In the Poetry demonstration, the seventh-grade students showed off their skills to charm the audience with topical poems with which they empathized and were thus able to convey their feelings and thoughts in the English language.
The 8th and 9th graders impressed us at the Speech exhibition with speeches written by themselves which included topics from today’s world, demonstrating not only their creativity, but also their self-confidence and their knowledge and growth in the language.
The event was held over three days where our school, INSTITUTO HISPANO INGLÉS, also showed the CCVI educational community of the eight schools in the republic tourist places that are representative of the city of San Luis Potosí, as well as the valuable work and effort of our elementary, middle and high school students who were part of the program with artistic and cultural interventions.
This activity filled our school with pleasure and satisfaction, and we passed the flag representing these English presentations to Colegio Central de Puebla, which will host the next event, CCVI English Contests.
