The 11th edition of the National CCVI Contest 2019 was held at our school Instituto Miguel Angel de Occidente, A.C. on the 29th and 30th of May,2019. This year has been special for us, not only because we organized the 11th Annual CCVI Contest but also for celebrating the 150th Anniversary of our Congregation; The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.

150 years in where the founder Claude Marie Dubuis as well as the sisters, have served thousands of people through a variety of ministries including education, health care, pastoral and social services. As we celebrate the founding of 1869, we look back in gratitude for God’s abundant blessings and look forward in faith and hope for a bright future.

During our event 64 contestants representing our CCVI schools: Instituto Miguel Angel de Occidente, Instituto Miguel Angel CDMX, Instituto América, Colegio Central, Centro Educativo Santa Catarina, Colegio Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Instituto Hispano Inglés and Colegio Mexicano competed in Spelling Bee, Poetry and Speech contests for Upper Elementary and Middle School.

An audience of about 250 people, including families, friends, teachers, and students came to listen to the poems and speeches and encouraged the contestants until the final rounds of the Spelling Bee. Professional judges commented on the extraordinary quality and level of English and voiced their admiration for the inspiring achievements of the students. All contestants received a participation diploma and the winners of each category were awarded a special medal.

In addition, the winners were:

This event demonstrates the commitment that we all have in the English language and we are sure that we will witness performances of the highest quality on further contests.  Our boys and girls made their best effort and overcame themselves in the spirit of the values of our community.

The National CCVI Contests were successfully concluded. Again they were carried out with passion and commitment, just as it has been done from the very beginning, and it is the ambition of the CCVI school group to continue this marvelous tradition in the future.
