Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (CCVI) were called to respond to specific and urgent needs of the church in the historic moment of 1869.  “Our Lord Jesus Christ suffering in the persons of a multitude of sick and infirm of every kind seeks relief at your hands.”

The Congregation’s mission is to actualize the saving and healing love of the Incarnate Word by promoting human dignity. (Constitutions, Article 3)  Therefore, our mission today has everything to do with following Jesus, the Incarnate Word, who assumed a human existence sharing in the life, sufferings and hopes of his people.

Each person in a CCVI sponsored ministry is called to embrace our mission as well as the ministry’s mission.  The two need to fit like hand and glove.  This gives people a sense of purpose, a role that connects to the spiritual.  Mission reflects what we do and why we do it and affects everything – planning, decisions, daily encounters.  It is what unifies us!

Fidelity to mission needs to be intentional and unrelenting where leaders believe the best about people and where everyone is empowered to connect to something larger than themselves.

When entering a country not our own we are often asked these or similar questions:  Who are you? Where are you coming from? Where are you going? Why are you going there? 

What would happen if we used these questions in our relationships, places of ministry, and in our quiet moments?  Expect amazing graces!
